My topic is based around university and the party lifestyle. I want to investigate if people are influenced in going to university just for drink and other party aspects that are in today's society .I want to see if all the partying can or has effected current student who are living in halls with things such as turning up to lectures late or not turning up at all and the effects this has had on them so far at university. I also want to compare this with students who commute and see if living in can effect your behavior towards drinking and partying.
Research and Target audience
My target audience is people ages 17 - 22 this age range will cover college students who are going to university or are in college and interested and thinking about going to university so will watch the documentary to see whats its like. The documentary that mine is similar to is called 'Freshers' this programme follows around first year students at university to see how they adapt to life away from home, making new friends and overall settling in to university life during freshers week.
Constraints
Some of the constraints is may face is Finding university students who want to be filmed this can be solved by asking as many different uni students i can find with a mix or both genders and a mix of people who live in halls and also commute.
Another issue i may face it getting to a university to film students partying this can be solved by using found footage off the internet and add a voice over of statistics on student partying.
Genre
Generic conventions found in this genre are
- Interview
- Voice over of presenter or narrator
- Text
- Cut aways
- Opinions
- Facts
- Statistics
- Real people
My documentary is going to include all the conventions above. I want the documentary to be a observatory documentary with voice overs, i think this idea for a documentary is unique there has been no other programme to address this topic of party lifestyle in uni and with thousand of students going off to uni ever year a lot of people would watch it along with some parents who would want to know what their son or daughter will be getting up to once they have left home to go and study.
- Director
- Camera
- Sound
- Two Editors
- Voice over artist
- Two female student who live in halls
- Two male students who live in halls
- One male student who commutes
- One female student who commutes
The type of people i need to be in my Documentary are university student who like to go out and party and other people who prefer to stay in and don't really like the idea of parting to see if deciding not to go out and party has had an effect on your results and also if results have been effected with people who commute who are more likely away from the university party's.
