Unit 33 assignment 2: Stop motion creation

Paper Love Story Idea's Style: Narrative Straw washing line Small wooden pegs Coloured Sketches for characters and setting PLOT:

Our stop motion is going to be based on straw washing line with the characters, objects and setting held on by wooden pegs. The outline of the narrative is basically a love story between two paper characters and their journey throughout the day.

First 30 seconds:

The first half will consist of the setting hung upon the straw washing lines; this will consist of the sun, clouds and birds. The paper girl skips onto the setting with musical notes floating round her head to show that she is singing, straight after the second character which is (the paper boy) strolls onto the scene holding flowers behind his back and then walks up to the paper girl tapping her on the shoulder. The girl turns to face him as he hands her the flowers, she takes the flowers off him whilst love hearts float around her head. The two characters hold hands and run off the set. The set stays the same except and ice cream van has drove on and then shortly after the two charcters stroll back on set hand in hand to the ice cream van, the boy takes the ice creams from the van and hands them to the girl. The boy gets down on one knee and produces an egagment ring, three musicans walk on to the scene playing the guitars with musical notes floating round their heads, the girl has hearts floating round her head and says yes! The boy gets up and the girl then kisses him for then he blushes. The two characters run off set all happy.

Second 30 seconds:
Both the boy and the girl come back on up on the set in a hot air bloon rising from the bottom to the top of the set, a bird the fly's in the hot air bloon leaving a puncture and causing the hot air bloon the fall down off screen. The two characters enter the set one with crutches and the other with a broken arm with starts floating around their heads when a hive of bees chase the two characters into the off screen space one leaving from the left and other from the right, they both re join and walk into the center of the screen with sad upset faces until they both turn and look at each other and smile they a love heart floats over their heads.Letters appear one by one on the washing line which say 'The End'. Target Audience and Genre:

We will make the female character wear a pink dress and the male caracheter wear a blue top. there is not going to be any dialog used in our stop motion we will just use sound effects to help tell the story. The camera will be static throughout but will zoom in closer on certain parts involving that particular character or prop. Our target audience is aimed at children and also early teens as this is a comedy cartoon stop motion and has quite an innocent traditional narrative base for the characters. Our stop motion is aimed at the age range of 8-15 years old as the drawings target a younger audience but also have that comedic aspect to it for the slightly older veiwers. It will target girls more than boys becuase of the romance apect. We think that as we are using a child's drawn design for the setting and characters and also using bright colours it will engage children as they like to watch things with a happy vibe to it. Our stop motion is targetted at both genders as the two main characters will be a boy and a girl, this makes it equal so everyone will enjoy watching it as it doesn't just focus on one gender.
Design:

For our design as i said we want the set and characters to look like a childs drawing as this will engage children, we are going to use bright bold colours to make sure that everything is clear and stands out. To make our set abit more unique we have decided to use straw washing lines and use wooden pegs to clip on our pictures then more them along the line. We are going to do this indoors so there is no interfearnce with sunlight. Our characters will be simple happy cartoon drawn people with comedic facial expressions throughout. The sound we will use will set the tone of the overall animation we will have music running quietly throughout and possibly change depending on the mood such as humour or romance. There will also be separate sound for the actions such as the music that the men will play, the hot air bloon and the bee's.

Similar Products:

These examples are similar stop motion to ours. The idea's are similar because we are going to use paper like both of these stop motions and move around the background objects to add to the animation.

  2. The plot is clear and we can visualise what's going to happen in the video, the target audience is both genders but would appeal more to girls because of the romantic elements to it. The genre for the stop motion is romance, we can see this clearly.
    They have examined other products
We think that the products are suitable because they are all 2D paper stuff

  3. Everything is explained well and in detail, only thing is we thought that you should be careful where you hang the washing line as if it is outside the lighting will vary and make the production less professional, you could hang one indoors using blue-tac and a green screen behind it? Also drawing this production will take a long time as you will need to draw every frame. (Jack and Fred)
